The concept behind proxy sites is to provide web surfers with privacy and anonymity online. By surfing through a proxy site, users can visit blocked websites even when viewing the internet from school, university, public libraries, internet cafes and even the workplace. Instead of having to miss out on browsing your favorite websites like MySpace, eBay, Facebook and Digg, you can surf anonymously using a proxy site set up for this very purpose, allowing you to access the websites that you need to get to even if they have been blocked by the network you are using.

The truth about proxy sites is that they provide a vital resource for anyone who wants anonymity, privacy, protection or safety on the internet. The internet is set up in such a way that nobody is safe or private, which is dangerous for anyone who wants to speak freely online. So if you are looking for a way to browse the websites that you want to browse, or to communicate freely on the internet without having to worry about big brother listening in, or someone trying to steal your identity based on your web history, proxy sites can play a vital role in letting you feel safe again.

Other computers and servers can detect a lot of information about you, including your referrer or the site from which you are linking, the user agent or the program that you are using to browse the web, and even what operating system you are using.
