1. So Your Child Wants to Work?
Often children are unhappy about the amount of money that their parents give them. How can they buy all the things they want with such a measly pittance? They do not understand that delayed gratification is good for them and so they are driven to look for ways they can get more money. This may entail working around the home for extra, or taking a part-time job outside the home. Parents may wonder if this is a good thing.
It should be considered on an individual basis, especially given the fact that earning a living is a hard thing these days. In addition, we live in difficult economic times. Parents cannot do anything about this. This is applicable especially to those families that are living in the third world countries. Not even the government can help with this matter.
At some point, most parents will not be able to provide everything that their child needs. Not everyone has a job that pays well and gives them financial stability; not everyone can afford a lot of things. There is a law that allows children to work, but it is designed to help them stay at school as well as to help them with earning some extra money.
If your child decides to pursue an acting career, the law will require her to have an entertainment work permit. The only thing which parents should do is to get the form and fill it out. You could actually get this permit by simply downloading it from the net. Always remember that every state has different criteria. Some require you to get an approval from your doctor, as they will be the one to state if your child should work or not.
If your child is at school, their school principal should also sign the form as most of the states require this. If the principal is not familiar with the entertainment work permit, you might come out and explain to them what it is all about. This is necessary since they will only put their signature on it if they do understand what it is and what it could do for your child.
The principal might pose a condition that your child should not lower his or her school grades. As a parent, you have to put in your fair share of effort when it comes to ensuring that there is a balance between your child’s work and studies.
