While he built the first Hypertext Transfer Protocol (http://) page in 1991 for the CERN Lab, the web as we know it today, with mass public access, didn’t truly kick off until about 1994.
Throughout the 1990’s and well into the 2000’s, commerce on the Internet was like the wild west frontier centuries earlier, with each marketer having to forge their own path, figure out what worked for them and build their online business from there.
